Is Cutting Edge Technology The Future Of Recruitment?

Much attention needs to be paid to the human side of recruitment but the emergence of new technologies is challenging how us humans mold recruitment processes to improve efficiency and results, so how can technology help?

Communication is an essential part of any relationship

Given the complexity of communication and the variety of issues that can crop up in any recruitment transaction, there is always a danger of letting these relationships slip a little. Any slip can plant a seed of doubt in a candidate or client’s mind, and before you know it, relationships are not as close as they used to be. There are loads of automated communication tools available to help with this but always focus on using these for the low touch transactional elements of a process so application acknowledgment, interview confirmations etc. Building relationships is so important though so save those important communication touch points for skilled recruiters which will include telephone interviews and the offer process, to date computers or machines are not able to pick these things up and its where candidates are really won or lost.

Using great technology can have lots of benefits

Working at the volume end of the market, our clients are increasingly relying on our technology solutions to assist in sourcing them the best people. They use our ATS systems as if they were their own, they have access to the latest sourcing tools, and we are even looking at how chatbots and AI solutions can be integrated into the process.

Technology can take care of the admin freeing up time for the softer side of recruitment

In our experience, technology has the potential to step into the breach and take many of the more mundane (but nevertheless essential) tasks off the recruiter’s plate, giving them the time to solve the subtle inter-personal issues that can arise.

Technology has the ability to be used on a large scale which has great advantages

We’ve seen firsthand the benefits some of our clients are getting through being able to use our technology as part of their recruitment process:

  1. Businesses who are hiring multiple roles at any one time don’t want to experiment with (and maintain) the latest technological solutions, its expensive and time consuming to set up.
  2. They can piggyback on our suite of tools, benefiting from the economies of scale and ensuring that their candidates get a premium service.
  3. Once they have a suitable shortlist we give them the tools to manage those candidates through to a successful conclusion.

We believe this is the future – especially at the volume end of the market.

How technology is helping us be better recruiters

For us, employing cutting edge tech allows us the time to spend on our client relationships. When basic candidate needs are taken care of, we can dig deeper into our client businesses and consequently give our candidates even more information to inform their decisions.

I suppose that clients might see us as an extension of their team. We don’t want to act like an external agent who will do a piece of work and walk away – we make an investment with our partners and the more roles we fill with them, the better that we get at filling them.

Why it pays to have an obsession with technology

From their point of view, they know that our obsession with tech will provide the best possible experience for their candidates along the way. When you have a reasonably large turnover of new roles, something that might not have been suitable for someone one day might be perfect for them a year later. You need them to have a good experience, or they won’t consider it the second time around.

Tech makes the world go around, and it certainly is helping to ensure a smoother recruitment experience. We won’t stop pushing the boundaries, because our success is intimately bound with the technology choices that we make.

We see an investment in tech as an investment in the candidate experience and return on investment for our customers.
