You will join a growing team of engineering, systems and communication technology experts based near Portsmouth. You will be part of a very experienced specialist technical group to support maritime platforms and defence establishments, within the UK and abroad. The Role:

  • Provide field-based service engineering support; fault finding and maintenance of critical equipment and systems.
  • There will be a requirement to react to customer needs both nationally and internationally so you must be happy travelling as required.
  • You may be required to provide equipment and systems training to internal and client employees and contractors.
  • Testing of faults and repairs to identify problems and ensure fixes have worked.
  • Take responsibility for quality of work carried out and ensure that the Health and Safety policy is adhered to
  • Writing reports and process documentation as required

The Ideal Field Service Engineer:

  • The role requires SC or DV clearance so any applicants will need to qualify for this national security clearance by being UK born nationals or born in other NATO countries with clean criminal record and credit checks.
  • Experience of working with military communications equipment or other Multimedia systems which also includes basic networking skills.
  • Ideally qualified to HNC / HND or their equivalent in a related engineering discipline or in lieu of academics, possess considerable experience.
  • Experience of working with UHF SATCOM systems (Maritime /land/Air) with knowledge of waveforms and systems utilised within a defence type environment.
  • Have a good working knowledge of RF theory and application, including the use of equipment involved in problem solving of RF systems – This equipment includes, but is not limited to, Power Meter, TDR, Frequency Counter, Spectrum Analyser, Cable loss measurements
  • To be able to repair/install cables and connectors (Co-ax / Power /N Types,BNC, D types
  • Technical skills and awareness, mechanical and electrical, ideally qualified to 18th
  • An in-date passport and category B driving licence
  • Customer facing, field based ‘technical support’ experience
  • Proactive mind-set with the ability to deal with competing priorities without compromising quality of work
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and the external customer
