Water Mains Engineer – North West Region – Starting salary £28,000 - £30,000 P/A

Are you an experienced Water Mains Engineer / Leak Detection Engineer looking for a new opportunity?

Do you like the sound of unlimited overtime and NO ON CALL?

You may need to excavate and repair the water service and pipes – with minimal disruption to the customer – following your initial detection of the leak. We aim to complete all work on the first visit. Our promise to customers is that we will accurately locate the water leak, so any excavation is to a minimum when the pipes are repaired.

The Role:

  • Highly experienced at leak detection using listening sticks, ground microphones and tracer gas etc.
  • A logical approach to water mains investigation to establish ownership of supplies
  • Confidence with customers, ability to talk through with them what work is required
  • To reinstate different domestic surface types, such as paving slabs, block paving, cold lay tarmac or concrete; at the customer’s property whilst maintaining the organisations high standards and attention to detail
  • Installing induct boxes
  • Enacting new point of entry
  • To accurately identify buried services and to trace existing metallic water services using CAT and Genny
  • To be a flexible team player with a developed attention to detail that shows initiative
  • Good leadership qualities and a supportive approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team
  • To be proactive with the ability to deliver to set deadlines

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in leak detection
  • WRAS accreditation (WIAPS)
  • Moling - 20mm to 32mm service laying including the creation of new 'Point of Entry' (although training will be given)
  • Holder of National Water Hygiene Card EUSR (Blue Card)
  • Basic cold feed plumbing (Hepworth/Speed Fit and Copper pipework)
  • Remains calm under pressure
  • CAT and Genny
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office
